Primary Robins - Christmas Concert

Posted by Annabel Larard on 16 December 2014

Today I went to St John's, the oldest parish Church in Winchester, for Winnall Primary School's Christmas Concert. Winnall School started Primary Robins at the beginning of this term and, after only twelve weeks, the children sang beautifully - standing tall and still.

Silent Night was magical and for Frosty the Snowman the children donned woolly hats. We had bells in Jingle Bell Rock and Santa Claus is coming to Town was accompanied by ukulele players.

The first verse of Away in a Manger was sung as a solo by a Year 6 girl. She has never performed in public before - but has a beautiful bell-like voice. She stood confidently and remembered where to breathe and, in not breathing after every word as she had in rehearsal, created a wonderful legato line. I could not have been more proud.

After the concert, I went to congratulate her and she burst into tears saying, "I am so happy! I didn't think I could do it - but I did!"
